Description
First year of production Colt Navy revolver serial number 4114. Has the classic early features including small trigger guard, no capping groove in the recoil shield, and heavy silver plate. Barrel legend - ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY -. Engraved on the right side of the barrel lug in script is -D C C- which may be the owners initials or possibly a unit designation such as D.C. Cavalry. On the lower left side of the barrel lug is stamped a number 3. Overall NRA -Very Good ++ condition. 100% original, 100% complete, and mechanically perfect. Edges are good, cylinder scene is very strong, silver plate on the brass is about 50%. Grips are fine retaining most of their varnish. Overall tight and solid with a handsome unmessed with patina. This is one of the first rounded trigger guard navies produced... just a couple months after the 2nd model squarebacks were discontinued.
