Last Will & Death Notice of Capt Simon Jefferds, Rev War & Indian Wars Soldier
Two documents recording the last will and testament of Captain Simon Jefferds. Both signed by Daniel Sewall as Register. The first is a copy of Jefferds' will, 2pp, York, Massachusetts, dated July 29, 1801. The will bequeaths various parts of his estate to his wife Anna, his son Samuel McLure Jefferds, and each of his daughters, Mary, Abigail, Anna, Elizabeth, and Sarah. The second document is a Notice of Death, 1p, Wells, York County, Massachusetts, dated October 26, 1801. Signed by "Edwd Cutts" as Judge of the Probate of Wills. Both documents measure 7.75" x 12.5". Both have flattened folds and varying degrees of toning, staining, and soiling. Some small holes to the second document. Both with bold signatures.
Captain Simon Jefferds (1675-1733) was an Indian fighter and also served during the American Revolution. He enlisted for service in Canada, serving as Lieutenant in Captain Eaton's Co. in Col. Wigglesworth's Regiment and fighting at Ticonderoga.
