Description
Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay to Chimu, ca. 800 to 1470 CE. A lengthy textile tump line comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama) wool fibers. The forehead band features a colorful pyramidal design in red, cream, and brown hues, and the tie ends alternate between cream and brown. Tump lines were used to support large loads on one's back while supporting it via one's forehead. Size: 67" L x 1.1" W (170.2 cm x 2.8 cm)

Condition
Slight desiccation and fraying to some fibers, with fraying mostly on the terminal tips, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of coloration throughout.
