This is an authentic green painted US Navy Mark 12 diving helmet. Unlike so many examples, this one has NOT had the neck ring bent or decommissioned by the US Navy. The Mark 12 was the predecessor to the famed Mark V. Made by Morse Diving Equipment, this is a relatively early example from March 1979. The vintage green paint is quite unique and the first we have seen. Based on some of the chips in the paint, there appears to be yellow underneath.
