PROVENANCE:
from the Estate of Senior Chief Petty Officer Aviation Engineer Thomas Clanton, USN Ret., (1935-2019), of Scout Trace, Blairsville and a former lifelong resident of Sarasota, FL. The son of the late Willard Clanton and the late Karen Clanton. Tom was a veteran of the US Navy having given thirty years of service for his country. While in the USN he was stationed in Olongapo Philippines and at Ching Chaun Kang Air Base in Taiwan flying aboard the P3 Orion. The P3 was used for anti-submarine operations and as reconnaissance missions. Since then, Tom begins fascinated and collecting many Oriental Chinese Antiques and Fine Arts.

The Chinese Ming Dynasty porcelain bowl potted of shallow vessel, rounded cavetto emerged steep round sides further to flat wide opening, raised on a splayed countersunk tall foot base. The exterior hand-painted with purplish-blue underglaze of two five-claws dragons interspersed by cresting wavy water diaper. Banded with two fine rings under rim. The interior decorated with sea dragon within double fine rings comforting the cavetto. The clay fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous.Mark under the exterior rim, four blue script -KaiShu-characters, XuanDe Reign Period.
