Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Post-Classic period, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. An attractive redware vessel boasting a unique form with a horizontal band of protruding nodules enveloping its broad hip - perhaps intended to resemble a peyote cactus. Sitting upon a concave base, the fascinating jar additionally displays a conical bottom, a rounded shoulder, a corseted neck, and a flared rim. Size: 7.9" Diameter x 6" H (20.1 cm x 15.2 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010

Professionally repaired with restoration. Minor chip to rim, as well as some nicks and abrasions throughout, all commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining pigment.
