Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. An adorable redware ceramic effigy whistle depicting a sweet bird. Avian forms were embraced in the Pre-Columbian world as sky animals that could serve as messengers between humankind and their deities. Beautiful avian form, and the whistle produces a lovely sound to boot! Size: 4" L x 2.25" W x 3.125" H (10.2 cm x 5.7 cm x 7.9 cm)
