Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. A hand-built pottery jar of spherical form with a pleasing motif of horizontal bands and dozens of petite linear bands emanating off of each, perhaps depicting insects or rivers. Size: 6.94" DIameter x 6.25" H (17.6 cm x 15.9 cm)
Provenance: private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, USA, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000

Condition
Repair and stabilization to one fissure stemming from rim, with overpainting along exterior break line, and visible adhesive residue along interior break line. Minor abrasions and scattered pitting, otherwise in great condition. Wonderful preservation of pigment. Previous inventory label and previous handwritten inventory number on base.
