Description
The signature of Kenyan anthropologist Richard Leakey (1944-2022) on an adhesive label, Encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified and graded EX-MT 6. Technically, the slab contains two Leakey signatures, since there are two labels, both signed, layered slightly off-center on each other. The edges of the under label can be seen underneath. Minor uneven yellowing verso, else near fine. The nested labels measure approximately 3.75" x 1" while the slab measures 5.375" x 3.25" overall.
Leakey's pioneering research into and excavation of prehistoric fossils in eastern Africa radically changed the field of twentieth-century anthropology. In 1984, Leakey and teammate Kamoya Kimeu discovered Turkana Boy, the nearly complete skeleton of an early human pre-adolescent boy who died approximately 1.6 million years ago.
