1776 "Boston in Distress" & "Account of the Proceedings of the American Colonists since Passing the Boston Port Bill" and "Discoveries of the Resolution Sloop, Captain Cook in 1774" Reported in "The Gentleman's Magazine"
March 1776-Dated Revolutionary War Period, "The Gentleman's Magazine," Extensive Reports on the Boston Port Bill, Col. (Benedict) Arnold's Attack on Canada towards Quebec, Captain Cook's Discoveries, plus Two Maps, London, Choice Extremely Fine.
This historic 1776 magazine has extensive contemporary reporting on the American Revolutionary War, including effects of the Boston Port Bill "Boston in Distress" and Congressional Proceedings, Col. (Benedict) Arnold's Attack on Canada and much more. It measures about 5.25" x 8.25", with 48 pages, disbound, fully complete, having a clean crisp appearance. Between continuing pages 110 and 111 is a large 10.5" tall x 8.5" wide fold-out Copperplate Map titled, "A new Projection of the Eastern Hemisphere of the Earth on a Plane, (showing the proportions of its several parts nearly as on a globe), by J. Hardy at Eton College" with some fold splits sealed with archival tape on its blank reverse.
This also issue includes a lengthy article (3+ pages) on Captain Cook and the: "Resolution's Voyage on Discovery to the Southern Hemisphere". Accompanying this article is a rare Map titled: "Part of the Tropical Discoveries of the Resolution Sloop, Captain Cook in 1774," measuring 5" x 8 1/4", is a bit close-trimmed at the bottom affecting the border but not the map.
And, lengthy extensive text regarding America, reporting on: "Account of the Proceedings of the American Colonists since Passing the Boston Port Bill" includes talk on the taking of Quebec. Historic text "Resolve" from the Continental Congress regarding those who might, obstruct & defeat the efforts of the United Colonies in the defence of their just rights...", plus much more. An important issue containing two valuable Maps, in the months leading up to the July 4th, 1776 Declaration of Independence.
