DESIGNER UNKNOWN CHIEF IRON TAIL WITH BUFFALO BILL'S WILD WEST. Circa 1912.
30x20 inches, 76¼x50¾ cm. The Strobridge Litho Co, Cincinnati.
Condition B: replaced losses, small losses, repaired tears and creases in margins; restoration in margins where tape was removed; minor creases and abrasions in image and along horizontal fold; handwriting in pink ink in lower left corner.
"By the late 1890s, Iron Tail was the principal Indian in Buffalo Bills Wild West. He became a close friend of William F. Cody’s even though neither spoke much of the other’s language. For the most part, they communicated through sign language" (https://centerofthewest.org/). Variations on the text and design (circa 1912) were printed by The Inquirer Job Printing Co. as well as the Russell-Morgan Print, Cincinnati, but this variant is in the collection of the Ringling Museum.
