PROBABLY WORKSHOP HENDRICK TER BRUGGHEN 1588 The Hague or Utrecht - 01 November 1629 Ibid SINGING LUTE PLAYER IN LOST PROFILE FROM THE COLLECTION OF 'OTTO PEIN' Oil on canvas (old relined). 100,2 x 86 cm (F. 118 x 102 cm). Verso: On the stretcher on old paper label with provenance note: 'Otto Pein'. Part. min. old rest., slight old retouching. Frame. In addition to the unknown variant from the Otto Peins Collection offered here, the RKD in The Hague mentions three other versions of the 'Singing Lute Player In Lost Profile'. A signed version dated 1624 is in the 'Musee des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux', another variant attributed to the artist is housed in the 'Musee National des Beaux-Arts (Algiers)'. A variant not attributed to the artist in terms of colour is now in the 'Figge Art Museum, Davenport'. Neben der hier angebotenen, bisher unbekannten Variante aus der Sammlung Otto Peins erwaehnt das RKD in Den Haag drei weitere Fassungen des 'Singenden Lautenspielers im verlorenen Profil'. Eine signierte und 1624 datierte Fassung befindet sich im 'Musee des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux', eine weitere dem Kuenstler zugeordnete Variante beherbergt das 'Musee National des Beaux-Arts (Algiers)'. Eine farblich differierende, dem Kuenstler nicht zugeordnete Variante, besitzt heute das 'Figge Art Museum, Davenport'.
