Description
Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A sizable, mold-formed faience Ushabti covered in a BLUE GREEN-glaze. The figure stands in mummiformwith crossed arms holding the symbolic pick and hoe used to sow the sacred fields of Osiris in the afterlife. Almond eyes with extended outer canthi, a triangular nose, cupped ears, and thin lips comprise thevisage, and the head is adorned with a tripartite wig and a plaited false beard.
