Description
Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A sizable, mold-formed faience Ushabti covered in a lime-green glaze. The figure stands inmummiform with crossed arms holding the symbolic pick and hoe used to sow the sacred fields of Osiris in the afterlife. Almond eyes with extended outer canthi, a triangular nose, cupped ears, and thin lips comprisethe visage, and the head is adorned with a tripartite wig and a plaited false beard. Faint lines of hieroglyphic text are inscribed on the front and sides of the lower body. A fabulous example from the LateDynastic Period! Size: 4.75" h x 1.5"" w .
