ARCHAISTIC COLLECTION
青白玉質，色澤溫潤，純淨細膩，略灑金黃色沁，光潔內蘊。器分蓋及爐兩部分，子母口內扣相合。蓋呈覆碗式，頂部設短柱狀捉鈕，鈕面刻壽字，四周飾如意雲紋。蓋面等距三凸雕，飾以蝙蝠展翅於雲上，餘光素無紋，其金黃色皮在影影綽綽的玉面中，彷彿映射出若隱若現的朝陽，展現晴空萬里的天趣之美。爐身圓口，束頸，豐肩，腹下漸收，下承外撇三乳足。前後口緣飾雙螭龍相向拱卍字盤長，兩側則以蝙蝠趴伏於壽字為耳，下設活環，餘亦光素無紋，琢磨細膩勻淨，體現出玉質如凝脂、精光內蘊、脈理堅密之特色，亦反映當時高度重視玉料的選擇和色澤自然變化之巧作。整體以高、淺浮雕等技法飾蝙蝠、螭龍、盤長、祥雲盤繞等吉祥圖案，亦有「卍慶福壽」、「福樂長壽」之寓意。清宮舊藏，北京故宮博物院庋藏清〈青玉朝冠耳龍鈕弦紋爐〉取仿古造形，僅於鈕、蓋及三足以螭龍、獸面紋裝飾，餘採「好玉不雕」的細膩表現，與本件蓋爐極為類似，可資參考。
香爐為焚香器具，用於宮廷，大則表現皇家體度，小則彰顯文人情懷，各種花式繁多。於宮中書房焚香，乃帝王之雅事，乾隆皇帝熟通漢理，精於儒典，為品味甚高之一代文雅皇帝，屋內焚香亦不可少。乾隆皇帝崇尚古制，御用器物多有仿古製品，仿古玉器於選材、樣式、燒色、製造等方面皆十分注重精緻細膩之感，在造形方面或與原器相似，或略有改變，紋飾方面有繼承，亦有創新。
本件香爐即為十八世紀仿古風潮下的典雅陳設器，其蓋面凸起三蝙蝠，此種裝飾甚是少見，系按器譜仿古代名器依樣製作，如欽定四庫全書－西清古鑑、卷七 ãƒ» 漢〈蟠螭鼎一〉蓋面凸起三圓環之形制，可作為仿古之複刻原型範本，然加以創新後而成。整體器壁厚實，雕工講究，無論蝙蝠、螭龍、盤長、祥雲的琢製或爐內平整細緻的打磨技巧，處處透露精湛工藝，彰顯典雅風格及雍容華貴的王者風範。
