Item Details

Description

Nice 1/9 plate tintype of 2 seated sailors wearing uniforms from the USS Shamrock. The Shamrock was a large (974 ton) steamer with powerful guns, acquired by the Union Navy during the American Civil War. She was used by the Union Navy as a gunboat in support of the Union Navy blockade of Confederate waterways. The Shamrock name is clearly visible in reverse on their caps and blouses. Nice clear image with no issues. In a patriotic matte Littlefield Parsons,"USS Monitor at the Fort" Union case in good condition with a edge/corner chip on the bottom left of the cover.
