This lot consists of an unframed ink illustration on paper, done in the distinctive cartoon style of Bill Watterson (American, 1958 - ). Handwritten ink inscription at top left reads, "Watterson". This charming piece depicts a series of images of Watterson's original characters, Calvin and Hobbes, from the comic series of the same name. Unframed dimensions approximately 8.25" x 11.75".

Bill Watterson (American, 1958 - ) was born in Washington, D.C. He was a political cartoonist for a college publication during the late 1970s, which led to a position as an editorial cartoonist for the Cincinnati Post. Eventually, Watterson abandoned political cartoons for his first love: comics. "Calvin and Hobbes" became a smashing success for Watterson, endearing him to millions of weekly readers for a full decade.
