This lot consists of an ink illustration on paper, done in the distinctive cartoon style of Bill Watterson (American, 1958 - ). Handwritten ink inscription at bottom right reads, "Watterson". This charming image depicts Calvin and Hobbes, the title characters from Watterson's iconic comic strip. Unframed dimensions approximately 10.75" x 8.25".
Reverse side of piece reveals that the paper is a page from an old reference book (presumably on antiques or antique silverwork).
Bill Watterson (American, 1958 - ) was born in Washington, D.C. He was a political cartoonist for a college publication during the late 1970s, which led to a position as an editorial cartoonist for the Cincinnati Post. Eventually, Watterson abandoned political cartoons for his first love: comics. "Calvin and Hobbes" became a smashing success for Watterson, endearing him to millions of weekly readers for a full decade.

Overall fair condition. Slight toning has occurred with age. Image itself remains clear and bold. Slight wear/warping at bottom edge. Please see photos for additional reference.
