This lot consists of a framed colored pencil illustration on paper, done in the Pop Art collage style of Thomas K. Wesselmann (American, 1931-2004). Handwritten graphite inscription at bottom right reads, "Wesselmann". Image depicts the close-up view of a woman. A bright and eye-catching composition. Framed piece measures approximately 13.25" x 16".

Tom Wesselmann (American, 1931-2004) was a painter, illustrator, and sculptor who was active in the United States in the decades during and after the inception of Pop Art. Often noted for the isolation of erogenous female body parts. Wesselmann's is a post-Abstract-Expressionist incarnation of the ideal body for the consumer age, something to be consumed like a bottle of beer, a tabloid, or a comic book. In his own words, Wesselmann explained that he was simply a channel for the culture he experienced. This, of course, is the secret to his lasting appeal.
