Exceptional Revolutionary War North Carolina Soldier's "USA" Design Pewter Button Troiani "ANCUSA.c" Type
c. 1778 Revolutionary War Period, North Carolina Soldier's "USA" Pewter Button, Troiani "ANCUSA.c" type. Cuff Button. 16 mm. Lacking Shank, Choice Very Fine.
16 mm. Small Size North Carolina "USA" Pewter Button. Cast Pewter with raised scalloped border and central raised block letters "N-USA-C". (N above USA and C below) lacking shank on back. This button said by consignor to have been located in Halifax, North Carolina. Similar in overall quality to the Troiani "ANCUSA.c" plate illustrated on page 134 of his reference work "Military Buttons of the American Revolution". This current button having clear sharp detail both face and back, some of its surfaces being smooth and glossy in appearance. Slight actual wear is seen, the reverse cast line is clear to the naked eye. Exceedingly rare, nice in its eye appeal, definitely lacking in most specialized and institutional collections.
