c. 1776 Rare Revolutionary War Period "13 Stars" Design American Colonies Patriotic Theme Decorative Button
c. 1776 Revolutionary War Period 13 Stars American Colonies Patriotic Button, Traces of Gilt, With Its Full Original Shank, Very Fine.
25 mm. This unidentified Revolutionary War Era Button (not in the Albert or Tice references) features a simple but effective design of 13 round "Stars" arranged in a tight pattern at center, surrounded by an ornate decorative outer border of uniform design. The original shank remains fully intact on the back and it has not been bent or deformed in any way. There is some slight waviness to the metal, but the button does not appear to have been hit or damaged in any way. Despite some very slight surface wear from use, this is a very attractive button and it may turn out to be quite the Patriotic rarity. Traces of original gold gilt appear on the front of the button; the back of the button has a tinge of gilt. It goes without saying that this is the first example we have seen and offered.
