Title: 7 of 8 Utagawa Kunisada 1859 Bijinga Woodblock Prints Ukiyo-e
Description: This is one of the eight Utagawa Kunisada prints in the bijinga genre, which is the genre of woodblock printing of beautiful women. Utagawa Kunisada is one of the most prolific ukiyo-e artists from 19th century Japan. This print shows two women inside a room looking over a rover and a cherry blossom tree. Published by Ouya Eikichi and Hayashiya Shōgorō.
Signed: Toyokuni Ga (Art by Toyokuni) in cartouch in lower part of print. Publisher seal directly right of that is Ouya Eikichi. Publisher seal to the left of cartouche is that of Hayashiya Shōgorō.
Circa: 1859

Condition: Some wear to outer edges and toning on paper. No rips, stains, insect damage, or creases.
Provenance: From the estate of a local retiree, whose grandfather collected Ukiyo-e prints throughout the 1930s.
