Description: This is one of the eight bijinga prints we have for auction by renowned print artist Utagawa Kunisada! The bijinga genre features images of beautiful women. This print shows a woman in formal kimono holding something between two pieces of fabric. Utagawa Kunisada is also known as Toyokuni III and is one of the most famous and widely known print artists in 19th century Japan!
Signed: Toyokuni Ga (art by Toyokuni) in the cartouche on lower left side. Maruya Seijiro publisher seal to right of artist signature.
Circa: 1856
Dimensions: 14.5x10 inches
Condition: A tear in the upper right corner, and fold in the lower right corner along with some insect damage. Some fading on paper. No major creases, stains, or rips!
Provenance: From the estate of a local retiree, whose grandfather collected Ukiyo-e prints throughout the 1930s.
