Description
**First Time At Auction**
Central America, Guatemalan, Totonicapan, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A glazed pottery vessel with a stirrup handle, a spout, and a zoomorphic head. The vessel rests on a flat base with a large globular body and applied floral motifs on the broad shoulder. An arching handle rises from the top with additional applied swirling shapes. A pig head protrudes from the front with adorable rounded features; a snout, eyelashes, and ears. The nose has two perforated holes that lead into the interior and act as a nozzle. The exterior is coated with an olive-green glaze that is applied to the upper half and runs down the sides. An intriguing vintage piece inspired by the forms of ancient stirrup vessels! Size: 8.5" W x 9.375" H (21.6 cm x 23.8 cm)
