Certificate of Authenticity. Antique Federal Era handwritten letter, bearing the signature of Alexander Hamilton (c. 1755-1804), first Secretary of the Treasury of the United States (1789-1795) and an important and influential member of the Founders. Written circa 1794, during the presidency of George Washington, and written to Presley Neville (1755-1818), American military officer, Pennsylvania state official, and the son of Gen. John Neville (1731-1803), a tax collector and central figure in the Whiskey Rebellion. The handwritten letter includes the names of several historically important individuals, including Albert Gallatin (1761-1849), later an American diplomat, the founder of New York University, and the longest-tenured United States Secretary of the Treasury (1801-1814).Presented in a decorative matte, and accompanied by an autographed note signed with Hamilton's initials on the integral leaf. Includes engraving portrait of Hamilton; and an inscribed plaque that contains details of Hamilton's biography, including historic information about the Whiskey Rebellion (1791-1794). Certificate of Authenticity from PAPER TREASURES (Palm Beach, FL), signed and dated 1996. Good antique condition, minor wear to frame. Measures approximately 7 7/8 in. x 6 1/4 in.
