Hezekiah Hudson Baker (American; Florida, 1940-2007). Original oil painting on upson board. Florida beach landscape with palm trees and other flora, an expansive cloudy blue sky, and large blue green waves rolling towards a sandy beach. Signed lower right H. BAKER. Baker and his companion Florida Highwaymen were young 1950s and 1960s era African American landscape artists mentored by Albert Ernest (Beanie) Backus (American, 1906-1990), who was regarded as the Dean of Florida Painters. Presented in a rustic wood frame. Good overall condition, normal wear to frame. Measures 24 3/4 in. x 36 1/2 in. (board), 26 1/4 in. x 38 1/2 in. (framed). Hill Auction Gallery will not ship.
