This extremely rare revolver, Serial # 1028, was manufactured by Leech and Rigdon, by contract with the Confederate Government. It is one of less than 1,500 made. This revolver is one of a very small number delivered to the state of South Carolina it has the acceptance mark of "SC" stamped into the bottom of the grip stock. The grip is also inscribed by its original owner "J.W. McCabe". John W. McCabe was a member of Waul's Texas Legion and the 25th South Carolina Infantry, Company A. They are less than 120 Leech and Rigdon revolvers known to presently exist. This is one, of only a very few, identified Leech and Rigdon revolvers in the world. It is in excellent original untouched condition. The artifact was appraised in 2010 and includes full historical information, relevant sales information for the period, and a full Providence for the soldier, JW McCabe, and his service for the confederate army within the Civil War.Please note that, for this item, a full appraisal report is available by request, up to 48 hours in advance of auction day.
