Description

An 1864 50 caliber split breech carbine. These were produced in limited numbers at the end of the civil war. These were a single shot carbine using the split breech method that took several steps to load and fire a brass cartridge. Stamped with letter P on the stock and US on a steel butt plate

Barrel retains some bluing small crack in wristwear consistent with age.
