Description

-NO RESERVE-Fresh from an ages old unsung local collection. The collector was the nicest and kindest friend I had. He recently passed away and hid from me the fact that he was terminally ill for over ten years. I recall the day he found this treasure at the Lima, Ohio gun show for less than a thousand dollars. I was green with envy, and he was smiling ear to ear. It ranks in the top five Confederate Enfields I have encountered, and it surpasses all considering that it comes with a Richmond made Tredegar Foundry Enfield Pattern Socket Bayonet. The bayonets are virtually unheard of. Beyond Rare. Most of the advanced Confederate collections do not contain one. And it was a freebie attached to this Johnny Reb Enfield. 100% original, 100% complete, and mechanically perfect. NRA -Very Good- condition. Confederate -Fine- condition. Confederate export serial number is engraved on the butt. Letter -S- stamped forward of the butt plate tang showing delivery to South Carolina. J.S. and Anchor stamp as prominent as any I have ever seen on a CSA Enfield. Even the nipple protector whistles Dixie being a carved lead device attached to the English chain. The musket is easily worth 4500. The bayonet is nearly impossible to value due to the incredible rarity... but certainly worth 2500 to 3500. Starting bid with no reserve for the two pieces is a gift at $5000.
