Description
Beautiful untouched Flintlock Fusil with incised carving and walnut stock. This fusil was owned by Robert Menzies, Militiaman, of Rockingham County, Virginia (His initials RM carved on the stock). Roberts served in Capt. Hogg's Company of Rangers in 1758- 1759 and Capt. Gist's Company in 1760 Company during the F I War under Major George Washington. The fusil was purchased from the Menzies family by Charles Yost, Albemarle County, VA in the 1970s. A wonderful example of an early 18th-century fusil possibly stocked by an American gunsmith using a European barrel and flintlock. 28" Barrel 42" overall and 55 Caliber.
