HIS STAGE DEBUT: "ONE OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS IN MY CAREER" CARUSO, ENRICO. Autograph Letter Signed, to Victor Talking Machine Company representative Calvin Child ("My dear Mr. Child"), in English, thanking him for a gift commemorating his 25-year professional career. 2 pages, square 8vo, personal stationery, written on first and terminal pages of a folded sheet; small office ink stamps in upper margin of second page, vertical fold with minor loss to paraph and first "c" of signature. - Np, 27 March 1919
"I wish to thank you and the others [sic] Directors of the Victor Talking Machine Company for the exquisite chased silver bowl which you presented to me on my 25th artistic anniversary. I shall always value this gift as one of my most prized possessions and a reminder of one of the greatest moments in my career."
On March 15, 1895, Caruso made his first professional appearance in Mario Morelli's L'Amico Francesco at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples.
