Description
**First Time At Auction**

Native American, Central United States, Plains Indians, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A fine club carved from wood with a slender handle and a small stone striking head secured within a tight loop. The weapon is covered in a thick, dark-brown pigment which hardened to form a tight bond between the stone and loop as well as nicely preserve the wood beneath. Size: 17.375" L x 2.375" W (44.1 cm x 6 cm).

Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.

Small nicks and abrasions to handle, loop, and stone, with chipping and light fading to areas of pigmentation, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits and nice patina throughout.
