Description
The lot features a beautifully beaded Indian hide tomahawk war club drop attributed to the Blackfeet / Blackfoot Indians of the Northern Plains during the 20th Century. The piece has a typical triangle pattern made of Indian tanned hide with a calico trade clothe backing sewn with trade thread. The front is covered in glass trade seed beads in a classic geometric pattern with colors of light blue, cobalt, rose, greasy yellow and semi-transparent green. The bottom edge has dark blue and red stroud wool trade clothe with a row of pony beads and below thin Indian hide fringes with a red ocher dye. The top has an Indian tanned hide tie and copper trade bead. The drop measures 24 inches long, not including the 8 inch long hide ties. The width is 5"W.
