Native American, Central United States, Plains Indians, ca. 19th century CE. An impressive war club carved from wood and wrapped in animal hide with a smooth stone striking head secured by a tight leather loop. The leather covering is sewn with animal sinew, which forms a lovely zigzag seam up the side of the handle and helps to secure the stone head. Size: 4.75" W x 24" H (12.1 cm x 61 cm)
