Pair of early framed portraits. Portraits of Adam and Sarah (Sutton) Gross. Adam Gross, b. 1834 Altenglan, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany, immigrated to Marietta Ohio with two brothers in 1854, married Sarah Sutton in 1856, owner a farm near New Salem, Ohio. Fought in the Civil War, 1861-64 in well documented Salem Light Guard of the 36th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Engaged at numerous battles including Antietam, Second Bull Run and Lewisburg. Died 1903. Sarah (Sutton) Gross, b. 1830 Washington County, Ohio, Paternal grandfather was one of the earliest settlers in Williamsport, Penna. on a site that is now the Little League World Series location, married Adam Gross 1856, had (8) children. Died 1888. Sights 19" x 15". Professionally framed and matted.
