Elvis Presley's Personally Owned 2.00ct Black Star Sapphire, 0.35ctw Diamond 14K Yellow Gold Music Note Ring Given to Dick Grob W/Letter of Provenance - This solid 14k yellow gold ring was personally owned by Elvis Presley. The ring has the iconic "nugget" style design which was favored by The King, and is embellished with an approximately 2.00ct black star sapphire and 0.35ctw fiery white diamonds in the shape of a music note. The ring was given by Elvis to Memphis Mafia member Dick Grob, who worked as Elvis' security chief for many years. Dick Grob first met Elvis Presley in 1967 in Palm Springs, where Elvis and Priscilla were spending their honeymoon and Grob was working as a police officer. Grob was assigned to provide personal protection to Elvis and the pair started a friendship that would last over ten years. Elvis eventually made Dick 'an offer he could not refuse' as his full time personal bodyguard and eventually Chief of Security, and in this capacity Grob facilitated security for all of Elvis' concert tours, appearances, and vacations to locations like Vail, Colorado and Hawaii. The ring is size 7.75, and weighs 26.3 grams. The piece will come with a signed affidavit from Dick Grob which states in part, "In December 1975 Elvis had one of several jewelers he used come to his suite at the hotel with several rings. Meeting in his bedroom privately he purchased several rings. He gave these rings to several women who were in attendance and several of the men that were also present. He also bought several rings for himself. One he bought for himself was in the shape of a 'Music Note'. The letter also goes on to tell Mr. Grob's personal account of later that evening when Elvis gave him the ring, stating that "Elvis said it wasn't big enough. He liked the design but wanted it bigger to fit his other fingers."
