Elvis Presley's Shelby County Honorary Deputy Sheriff Badge Acquired From Tom Morgan W/Letter of Provenance - This Shelby County Sheriff badge was awarded to Elvis Presley by Sheriff Gene Barksdale on September 1, 1976 in appreciation for supporting the Shelby County Sheriff Department. The badge is suspended in a Perspex block with a dedication plate affixed to it, and comes with Elvis' Honorary Deputy Sheriff card signed by Sheriff Gene Barksdale, and a hinged wooden case with the Shelby County badge logo on the front. Elvis had an infatuation with law enforcement, especially the Shelby County Sheriff's Office in his hometown of Memphis. This item was acquired by our seller from Thomas B. Morgan Jr., who went to high school with Elvis and reconnected with the King many years later, as he was the Administrative Assistant to the Shelby County Sherriff's Department and eventually even assisted with coordinating the security for Elvis' funeral. The lot will come with a letter of provenance. According to our seller, who received this piece from Tom Morgan, the name is spelled "Aaron" on the plaque because Elvis wanted it spelled according to the spelling of Aaron in the Bible.
