MARCONI GUGLIELMO: (1874-1937) Italian Inventor, developed a radio telegraph system. Nobel Prize winner for Physics, 1909. A fine T.L.S., `G. Marconi´, a good and bold signature example, one page, 40, Washington, 12th June 1917, to Prince Cassano, in Italian. The velvet ink typed letter bears to the upper left corner a blind embossed seal of the U.S eagle seal. Marconi explains that he has only received now his correspondent´s letter being the reason why he couldn´t meet him, further stating in part `..Your work is certainly beneficial and effective and I would like to congratulate you.´ Marconi was at the time of the present letter in the U.S., heading the Company Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company, and working for the U.S government. The page bears a very attractive and large watermark of the US eagle seal. Folded. VG £300-400 Prince Livio Serra di Cassano (1862-1938) Neapolitan nobleman and genealogist.
