Item Details

Description

World War II military ephemera related to the service of Franke P. Werner of the United States Army Forty Fifth Infantry Division, includes Bronze Medal of Honor with two copies of citation, campaign and other badges, cap, two dog tags, coin, and 1936 German postal cover with Olympic theme stamps. Bronze medal: 1.375" H x 1.375" W. Werner was a German national who fled Germany and joined U.S. troops on the side of the Allies during the final days of the war. After the war, he would remain in West Berlin in service of the American occupation.
