Description
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery standing figure of a miniature form with delineated legs, one arm bent and held to the chest, and one held aloft. The characteristically elongated head boasts petite eyes, a pointed nose bedecked with a crescent nose ring, and large ear spools, all beneath a headdress wrapped around a pair of protruding hair nodules. A large pendant necklace hangs in front of the slender chest, and the figure is covered in a pale-orange slip. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 1.125" W x 2.375" H (2.9 cm x 6 cm); 3.4" H (8.6 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
