**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi province, Jamacoaque (stamp and mold), ca. 500 CE; Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica (whistle), ca. 1000 CE. Three wonderful ancient pottery items from either Ecuador or Costa Rica. First are two Jamacoaque (or Jama Coaque) pieces, one a small stamp with a conical handle and a flower-shaped stamp end, and the other a large rectangular mold for producing high-relief placards with flower-shaped motifs. The last item is pottery whistle from Costa Rica which has an ovoid body, two conical terminals with one being a whistle mouthpiece, and four tone holes; the whistle has a light brown layer of surface pigment and an abstract avian form, however does not function as a musical instrument. A great set of pottery items from across the Pre-Columbian world! Size of largest (whistle): 2.75" H (7 cm).
Provenance: private Stagecoach, Nevada, USA collection; acquired from 1985 to present from galleries such as Arte Primitivo, Art For Eternity, Butterfields, and Riverbend Gallery

Condition
Whistle has small area of loss to mouthpiece, rendering it unusable. Each item has age-commensurate surface wear, small chips and nicks around peripheries and to details, with earthen and mineral deposits throughout.
