**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 900 to 1400 CE. A hand-built pottery jar with a spherical body, a flared rim, and a trio of conical legs. The 'handles' protruding from either side resemble highly abstract frog heads - each with bulging eyes and recessed sockets, tapered noses, and incised mouths - and dozens of ring-form appliques are indicative of frog eggs. The vessel exhibits a lightly glazed presentation. Size: 9.2" W x 7.9" H (23.4 cm x 20.1 cm).

Condition
Repairs to legs and areas of rim, with light resurfacing along break lines. Minor abrasions and nicks to legs, body, frog heads and eggs, and rim, with small areas of fire-darkening, and light encrustations. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
