Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona region, ca. 1000 to 1550 CE. A large pottery vessel in the form of an underworld deity. Reminiscent of pottery from the region further south into Peru where the Moche god Ai Apec appears as a menacing figure on much of their pottery. This vessel features a strong demon with claw-like hands, extended tongue and piercing eyes. He is one scary monster! Size: 8" W x 7" H (20.3 cm x 17.8 cm)
