Pre-Columbian, Colombia or Venezuela, ca. 800 CE. Rare blackware pottery jar in the form of a rotund human. He holds his short arms at his girthy sides, wearing large and long necklace, large labret in his lower lip, wad of coca leaves in his cheek and serpentine headdress. A fine and amusing vessel! Size: 5.5" H (14 cm)
