Item Details
Description
East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A fabulous trio of pottery jars, all enveloped in a vibrant viridian-hued glaze. Nearly identical in form, each stunning vessel presents an apple-form body sitting upon a ring-shaped base with a sloped shoulder, a corseted neck, and a rolled rim. Each shoulder is elegantly adorned with a horizontal, floral motif band, as well as 5 petite loop handles placed equidistantly around the neck. Boasting a high luster, the brilliant glaze of each covers the interior of the neck and rim and the entire exterior save the base. Size of largest (all about the same): 8.9" Diameter x 10.9" H (22.6 cm x 27.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998
