Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona culture, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. An incredibly detailed ceramic ocarina in the form of a jaguar-masked shaman with a massive, crescent-shaped headdress and twin serpents flanking him. The surface is decorated with incised lines, creating a wonderful texture. An opening in the center of the undecorated back and four small holes along the lower front part of the ocarina allowed the instrument to be played. Size: 3.3" W x 3.75" H (8.4 cm x 9.5 cm); 4.5" H (11.4 cm) on included custom stand.
