Description
A beautiful Greek red-figure oinochoe depicting the winged goddess Nike, Apulia, 4th Century BC, high-handled and with trefoil pouring spout. The body of the vessel is beautifully decorated with Nike standing to front, looking left, holding a wreath in either hand. She is bordered above and below with geometric bands, a gorgeous palmette and floral devices around and opposite; the neck and shoulders adorned with vertical tongues and rays. H: 10 1/8 in (25.8cm). Well-preserved with light deposits and an outstanding example! Ex York, UK private collection acquired at Parthenon Gallery, UK.
