Description
A choice Apulian red-figure lidded oinochoe attributed to the Patera Painter, c. 330 BC, Type 8, the body adorned with a woman reclining left on rocks, holding a mirror and casket while leaning on a kalathos; a fan rests against her legs she is framed by gorgeous palm motifs with a palmette below the double coiled handle. The lit is well-fitted with two female heads opposite palmettes. H: 5 5/8 in (14.3 cm). Cf. A.D. Trendall/A.
