Description
A marvelous Apulian Greek red-figure fish plate, 4th Century BC, on low pedestal foot, the lightly concave interior decorated with two sea bream and a flounder around a central depression; the side with a wave pattern. The plate is well-thrown by the pottery and the fish are beautifully painted with fine style. H: 7 in. Intact, light deposits. Ex Harold Whitbeck estate, San Francisco, CA; Ex Christie's, acquired 1980's-1990's.
