DESCRIPTION: Thomas McKean signed document. Partially printed document granting to several gentlemen "...certain tract of land called Cleremont, situate in the late purchase now Tioga County..." dated April 21, 1972. On vellum, McKean's signature appears on the upper left of the document above an embossed paper seal. Recorded verso by Timothy Matlack. With letter from Diana J. Rendell, Inc. McKean served as Chief Justice of Pennsylvania from 1777 to 1799, Governor of Pennsylvania from 1779 to 1808, and was a signer of the Declaration of independence. Timothy Matlack was engrosser of the Declaration of Independence. From a local collector. MEASUREMENTS: 21" x 11-3/4". CONDITION: Well cared for. minor toning.
